Most of us aren't accustomed to the idea of eggs in our coffee, but camp coffee includes not only the eggs, but the shells, too. It may sound odd, but the result is a delicious coffee with none of the bitter taste commonly associated with coffee.
Instructions
1. Fill the coffee pot with water and bring the water to a rolling boil.
2. Break the eggs into a separate container, including the shells. Mix the egg and shells lightly with 1/2 cup of cold water, the salt and the ground coffee. The mixture should be thick and pasty and will appear somewhat like damp potting soil.
3. Add the egg mixture to the boiling water and let it boil over the fire for 2 to 3 minutes. When you take the lid off the pot, the coffee grounds and egg shells will be floating in a mass on the top of the coffee.
4. Remove the coffee from the fire and pour in a cup of cold water, which will settle the coffee ground mixture to the bottom of the pot. If any coffee grounds are floating on top, scoop them out.
