Spaghetti with Meat Sauce
Spaghetti is one of my favorite dishes. Its relatively easy to make and is also easy on the wallet. Below is my recipe for making a very good and very hearty Italian Spaghetti Meat Sauce. I hope you will enjoy my spaghetti meat sauce.
Instructions
1. Below are the ingredients that you will need to make the spaghetti meat sauce.
Ingredients for spaghetti Meat Sauce:
3/4 lb. ground beef
1/2 lb Italian Sausage
1 onion diced
1 green bell pepper diced
3 or 4 fresh mushrooms sliced
4 to 6 oz of sliced black olives
2 14 oz. cans of Italian diced tomatoes
1 14 oz. can of tomato sauce
1 6 oz can of tomato paste
1/4 cup of beef broth
1/4 cup of a decent red wine
1 Tbsp Italian seasoning
1 tsp oregano
1 tsp basil
1 tsp garlic powder (a clove of crushed garlic would be best)
1/2 tsp black pepper
1 tsp sugar
NO SALT, the black olives and canned tomatoes will add plenty.
1 pound of good Spaghetti Pasta
2. Put the ground beef, Italian Sausage and onion in a large pot brown the meat. After its browned add the green bell pepper, sliced mushrooms, black olives, diced tomatoes, tomato sauce, tomato paste, beef broth, red wine and all of the above seasonings. Bring the sauce to a slight boil and then reduce and let simmer for about 2 to 4 hours until its thicker. If needed during the cooking you can add additional liquid (either tomato sauce, red wine or add some beef broth). Make certain you stir occasionally so that it doesnt burn.
3. When the sauce is done you now need to cook the spaghetti pasta. I prefer a thin spaghetti. Fill a large pot with water and then add a little Olive Oil to the water and cook the pasta according to the package directions. Do not rinse the pasta when its finished cooking. The starch on the pasta will help the meat sauce stick to it. You can add a little butter if you like.
4. Now sit down and enjoy your spaghetti dinner with a nice glass of the red wine. The same wine that you used in the sauce. This is another reason I stated to use a decent wine. You can also sprinkle some parmesan cheese on top of the spaghetti and meat sauce when on your plate. I prefer to use the fresh parmesan.
