Decorate A Booth For A Chili Cook Off

Decorate your booth to tie into the theme of chili.

When participating in a chili cook off or any food cook off event, it is important to have a decorative booth to attract customers and to also help them remember your brand and chili recipe. Decorating the booth for a chili cook off requires a bit of creative thinking and planning ahead of time. Fully decorating your chili booth for the event will show your dedication to cooking and help improve your overall chances of recipe votes and returning customers.

Instructions

1. Create a logo and banner that matches your chili booth's overall message, if you have one. Brainstorm the colors you would like to use for your chili booth, varying with your location and the type of chili you are serving. For example, if you pride yourself on spicy chili, decorate in bright red. Choose a color scheme that is relevant to the flavor and type of chili you are serving. Using colors such as red, brown, and green will represent various ingredients of your chili in the look of your booth.

2. Write a list of the various types of items you would like to include in the decoration of your chili cook off booth. Keep in mind all of the items you will need to complete your chili booth, from kitchenware (such as cooking pots, ladles, and soup spoons) and plates to banners and decorative napkins. Some patterns for your chili booth might include various shades of red and brown stripes or checkers. You can also decorate your booth using illustrated chili peppers on napkins and kitchenware to add pizazz and liven up the booth's overall presence.

3. Design and create a customized menu for your chili booth if you have multiple flavors of chili. You can create brochure menus for the food tasters to highlight your chili's flavor history and recipe origin if you are only working with one type of chili. Add bright, bold colors to your menu and logo specifically to help customers to remember your booth. If you are decorating with chili peppers or using specific patterns, incorporate them into the menu to build your booth's brand and identity. Get creative with the name of your chili. If you are serving more than one type of chili, create descriptions and unique names for all of them on your menu.

4. Visit cooking supply stores to shop for the items you are seeking to help run your chili booth and also stay relevant to your color scheme and overall theme. Visit dollar stores and party decoration stores for additional decorations and supplies, such as disposable bowls and utensils for those trying the chili. Check various online party supply outlet stores and decoration supply shops for a variety of themed decorations and accessories for your booth. Purchase potholders and spoons for serving the chili and salt and pepper shakers for seasoning preferences. Try to match all of your booth's accessories to your color scheme and patterns with your logo as closely as possible to keep your booth streamlined and properly decorated.

5. Make a list of all of the decorations and items you have available for decorating your chili cook off booth and organize all the items based on where you would like to place and display them within your booth. This will help when actually placing the items to finalize the decoration of your chili booth. Set up the initial atmosphere and backdrop (if you have one) before handling the setting up of your additional decorations and kitchen utensils. Hang your booth's banner and confirm all of your kitchen equipment is working before placing your final decorations.

6. Decorate and complete your chili cook off booth according to your plans and by using all of the purchased decorations and products.
