Dom Perignon is the Champagne of celebration.
Well-known for its flavor, finish and quality, Dom P rignon was launched in 1921 by Moet et Chandon, according to Wine Review Magazine. Considered a "single vineyard" wine, Dom P rignon is only made from grapes grown in a single vineyard, and only when the harvest is exceptionally good. Moet et Chandon's best brand of vintage Champagne is named after Dom P rignon, a Benedictine monk who was an early pioneer for Champagne wines.
Vintage
Dom P rignon Champagne is a blend of Pinot Noir and Chardonnay. All of the grapes are from Grand Cru vineyards in the Côtes des Blancs (for Chardonnay) and Montagne de Reims (for Pinot Noir), but a little bit of Pinot Noir from the Premier Cru village of Hautvillers is also always in the blend, according to Ed McCarthy of Wine Review Online.
Ros
Pronounced rose-AY, this type of Champagne is made by combining Chardonnay and Pinot Noir wines that come from the Champagne region of France. Moet et Chandon's Dom P rignon Ros was first released in 1990 and is known for its flavors of spice and fruit, as well as its amber color. About the Champagne, Chef de Cave at Dom P rignon Richard Geoffroy says, "I am fully confident that the 1990 Dom P rignon Ros Oenotheque is now ready in all its singularity."

Though Moet et Chandon produces two types of Dom P rignon, within each of those categories there is a lot of variation. The harvest and the age of the wine alter its taste, depth, performance and price of each bottle. Each bottle of Dom P rignon is unique.
